We're looking for a Design Manager to work on critical capital projects within the water civil, minor and regional infrastructure portfolio - including earth bank storages, tanks, and asset renewals. This is your opportunity to lead impactful engineering design work in one of South Australia's most vital sectors.About the Role:This is a full-time, 12-month assignment based in Adelaide (Victoria Square), supporting the Engineering unit of the Sustainable Infrastructure division. You'll lead multi-disciplinary design efforts and manage stakeholder relationships across a variety of water-related capital projects.Key Responsibilities:Act as the primary engineering representative for multi-disciplinary design delivery.Develop and lead engineering design strategies across water civil and regional portfolios.Oversee technical teams and ensure timely, accurate, and value-driven technical outputs.Engage confidently with stakeholders and provide clear, data-driven advice and feedback.Ensure compliance with Safety in Design (SiD) and Sustainability in Design (SuiD) principles.Support the preparation and review of design documentation, reports, and scopes of work.Work collaboratively with Engineering Delivery and Solutions teams to optimise outcomes.Drive design innovation and improvements to technical processes and standards.About You:A degree-qualified engineer (B.Eng or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (Essential).Experience in water-related projects such as tanks, pipelines, or earth bank storages (Highly Regarded).Proven leadership presence, with the confidence to drive outcomes and manage challenging conversations.Strong planning, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to lead complex engineering design processes end-to-end.Experience in technical writing and auditing of designs and reports.Familiarity with project management methodologies and systems (Desirable).Comfortable working across diverse project teams with clear communication and accountability.Duration: ASAP start, 12-month assignmentSalary: Performance based salary | $485 per day (approx. $127K annual + 25% casual loading)At HOBAN we encourage applications from people with disability, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, people of all genders, LGBTI people, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.We provide reasonable adjustments; including alternate formats to the recruitment process for individuals with disability.
