Executive Leadership position with a Timber Wholesaler | National Remit | Sales, Operations and P&L Management
Your new company
Our client is an established and well-respected timber wholesaler who service the Australian market by distributing a broad range of Structural, Outdoor and Hardwood products to Merchants, Retailers, Frame & Truss and Manufacturers.
The organisation has a strong presence across the Southern States, with aspirations of growth, initially through 3PL agreements across the breadth of the country.
Your new role
As General Manager, you will be tasked with taking the organisation through the next stage of evolution as a business. Maintaining and organically growing their existing customer base, leveraging strong relationships with customers and suppliers, but also matching the organisation's growth agenda by developing and executing the diversity of customers into new states and territories.
Responsible for the Sales, Operations and Financial Management of the business, a key task will be the engagement with the key decision makers at the major merchants and retailers in the Timber Industry, along with Frame and Truss specialists, and the range of manufacturers to procure their hardwood to fabricate finished products ranging from staircases to furniture.
What you'll need to succeed
* Knowledge of the timber industry is essential - preferably from working with a wholesaler, but individuals from Sawmills, Engineered Timber, Merchants, Buying Groups or Retailers would all be considered - provided you can exhibit an understanding of the whole supply chain in the industry, and support the Sales & Operations team in the complex process of accurately quoting and supplying their customers.
* The business operates in a relationship selling capacity, so the successful General Manager would also ideally have standing relationships to leverage for the good of the business.
* A growth mindset is required, ideally with a Sales-oriented background who has progressed into a cross-functional, P&L Management role.
* Ideally located in Melbourne, or Adelaide, and comfortable with travel nationally as the business footprint grows.
What you'll get in return
Ownership to execute the Australian strategy of the business, which is paramount in the following years of projected growth as a business.
