The role:
Reporting to the Senior Short-Term Mining Engineer, you will play a key role in developing safe and efficient mine schedules and designs across a planning horizon from daily to three months, applying your technical expertise to ensure practical and effective planning. In this dynamic role, your work will support frontline teams in delivering production safely while maximising operational value
- Prepare and deliver short-term mine schedules and plans that optimise safety, productivity, and cost.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure mine designs are executable and aligned with production goals.
- Contributing to the design and execution of drill & blast plans.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the planning function.
- Building strong working relationships with both technical and operational teams.
About you:
- Tertiary qualification in Mining or Civil Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in a mining environment.
- Exposure to or knowledge of short-term planning and scheduling, and how they are applied in daily mining operations (is desirable but not essential).
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across departments and organisational levels, supported by excellent communication and collaboration skills
- A proactive problem solver with a passion for applying experience and lateral thinking to develop practical solutions, along with a strong desire to grow technical capabilities and expand planning expertise.
- Experience with mine planning software such as SPRY, Deswik, Vulcan, or similar CAD-based platforms.
