About the Role

The Therapeutic Specialist role will provide trauma-informed therapeutic consultation and support to strengthen service delivery and improve outcomes for children, young people, and families, with a focus on safety, healing, and recovery.

You will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Therapeutic Practice and Intervention

* Provide specialist therapeutic and behavioural consultation to children, young people, carers and families presenting with complex or high needs.
* Undertake assessments and contribute to the development of evidence-based therapeutic and behaviour support plans.
* Apply trauma-informed, strengths-based and developmentally appropriate approaches to intervention.
* Develop, implement, review and formally document Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), in accordance with legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements.
* Ensure Behaviour Support Plans are developed in collaboration with carers, caseworkers and relevant stakeholders, and are consistent with CareSouth's Practice Framework and child-safe obligations.
* Monitor, review and adapt therapeutic strategies in response to progress, risk and changing needs.

Practice Support and Capacity Building

* Provide consultation and guidance to caseworkers and carers to support day-to-day therapeutic responses.
* Build practitioner and carer capacity to respond to trauma, disability, developmental delay and behavioural concerns.
* Promote consistent application of CareSouth's Practice Framework and therapeutic models.

Multidisciplinary and Interagency Collaboration

* Work collaboratively with Managers, Child and Family Services and program teams to support integrated service delivery.
* Liaise with external clinicians, specialist services and community partners as required.
* Contribute specialist input to case planning, reviews, and multidisciplinary discussions.

Governance, Quality and Compliance

* Maintain accurate, timely and professional documentation in accordance with CareSouth policies and legislative requirements.
* Ensure therapeutic practice aligns with professional standards, ethical obligations and organisational expectations.
* Identify and escalate practice risks or service gaps to the Manager, Child and Family Services.

What you need to be successful in your role

* Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Nursing, Family Therapy or another relevant clinical discipline.
* Proven experience in child protection, therapeutic residential care, or foster care, working with children who have experienced trauma.
* Strong understanding of trauma-informed and child-centred practice.
* Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary service environments.
* High-level written and verbal communication skills.
* NSW Driver's Licence.
* National Criminal Record Check Clearance - CareSouth covers the cost of this
* Working With Children Check Clearance
* NDIS Worker Screening Check Clearance
