SAP Academy for Services & Consulting (Australia) - Project Manager Associate

The Academy is a 12-15 month graduate program starting your career with classroom-based learning and rotation opportunities within a predefined focus role.

Throughout the program you will build the foundations needed for success in the Customer Services & Delivery business, gaining experience across consulting, project management, technical and solution support.

The Role

The Project Manager is responsible for supporting customers' transformation strategy through the management of cloud, or hybrid implementation initiatives with SAP Activate methodology.

The Project Manager has the qualifications and business acumen to manage large-scale, high-risk, strategic projects that span organizational boundaries including multiple business units and service partners/vendors.

You will provide leadership to cross-functional teams to deliver defined project outputs on time, on budget and with high quality.

You may assist SAP Sales teams during the Bid Phase by providing input into proposals regarding the delivery model, project structure, scoping, estimation and risk assessment.

You may also manage complex projects or programs requiring coordination of work between third-party subcontractors, SAP Development, and Global Support organizations.

As a Project Manager Associate, you will support the project manager on large-scale, high-risk, strategic projects, and/or lead operational projects or small engagements.

Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies

- Master's degree, or equivalent tertiary study
- 0-3 years' work experience with customer-facing roles
- Team player with ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks
- Good listener with excellent communication skills, empathetic, cooperative
- Resourceful self-starters with strong interpersonal skills who are eager learners
- Interested in technology, innovation, and how digital platforms can solve business challenges
- Problem-solvers who are ambitious, passionate, resilient, proactive, open-minded, and able to manage pressure

Expectations and Tasks

We are looking for a team member who can demonstrate and/or learn the following:

- Learn and understand the Customer Services & Delivery portfolio for the respective solution areas and deliver according to service specifications
- Conduct job rotations relevant to the intended role with various teams while meeting performance requirements
- Complete case studies, classroom and self-paced learnings with a mix of technical and soft skill topics and on-the-job training
- Work on relevant projects that demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic
- Demonstrate problem solving, time management, and communication skills during training and rotations
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Adapt to knowledge on new technologies in a dynamic environment

As a Project Team Lead on a large strategic project

- Conduct project planning activities and support execution of large-scale, high-risk, strategic projects
- Assist project PMO as needed by SAP or Customer PM
- Manage sub-project groups to supervise/represent a team within a large project program
- Ensure project success (budgets, schedule, quality, business value)
- Ensure proper use of methodology tools and procedures
- Coordinate project resource management with resource managers

As a Project Manager for a small strategic / operational project

- Responsible for managing project through life cycle - applying skills as project team lead and project coordinator
- Responsible for defining, planning, tracking and managing the project in accordance with methodology
- Identify required resources, collaborate with sponsor to set direction to meet objectives; participate in initiation/planning; manage execution against the plan
- Manage internal/external communication to stakeholders with input from Sponsor
- Lead project team by communicating what needs to happen and holding team accountable
- Support identification of risks/issues and develop mitigation options for sponsor decision
- Communicate and/or escalate project issues early to account management and delivery management
- Balance the triple constraint (time, cost, scope) to realize expected business value

Proficiency in tools and procedures

- Position SAP delivery methodology - Activate, Agile, Best Business Practices and Integrated Tool management with the customer and project team
- Work with partners, customers and SAP teams to enforce adoption of Rise with SAP methodology and tools (e.g., CALM, Signavio, LeanIX, BTP)
- Drive clean core on BTP, innovation adoption and large-scale business transformation for customers
- Maintain internal project financial and non-financial systems
- Adhere to Procurement, HR policies and commercial processes (change requests, invoicing)

Proficiency in communication

- Display effective communication to handle and explain customer situations to business end users and SAP consultants
- Create and communicate project processes to increase collaboration within the project team
