We are seeking to establish a pool of Lead Education Assistants - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Durham Road School is the largest Education Support School in Western Australia, catering for approximately 250 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our educational focus is on delivering high quality teaching and learning experiences using evidence based best practice techniques. The Role

As Education Assistant Special Needs – Lead (EASN-L), suitable applicants would collaboratively work with consulting teachers to model evidence-informed interventions to school staff. Suitable applicants will ideally display outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to actively participate to teams and work alongside school staff, School Psychology Services and external agencies. Applicants with the ability to implement strategies, assist with problem solving and processes to achieve positive outcomes under a high pressure environment are highly desirable.

Suitable applicants may also work independently of the Consulting Teacher to provide direct guided support to students and peers. They will ideally display an excellent understanding of supporting students with a disability using evidence-based strategies and interventions. They will work with other Education Assistants to develop strategies which address issues that assist teachers in providing care and educational programs for students. They will assist in collecting and reporting data that will assist in improving outcomes for students.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
