Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop innovative mechanical systems and components that meet customer requirements.
* Lead design reviews, provide engineering thought leadership, and collaborate with drafting teams to create concept drawings.
* Coach and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and direction while monitoring progress.
* Utilize finite element analysis and simulations to ensure designs meet specifications.
* Build prototypes of mechanical system assemblies and equipment to propose improvements to advanced mechanical systems.
* Conduct rigorous testing in controlled environments and analyze test data to enhance designs and ensure compliance with industry standards.
* Research and select appropriate materials for mechanical applications, considering factors such as corrosion resistance, strength, and durability in extreme weather conditions.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical components into complete control systems, ensuring seamless and efficient functionality.
* Stay updated on emerging market and technology trends like mechanical, robotic, drone, and ROV technologies.
* Identify and evaluate opportunities for technological advancements and cost efficiencies.
* Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and computer-aided design and drafting drawings.
* Engage multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive mechanical system solutions.
Requirements:
* Qualified in Mechanical Engineering and ideally Master's degree.
* Holding a professional engineering license (PE) would be advantageous.
* Minimum 10 years of mechanical design engineering experience, preferably in R&D and Innovation environments.
* Minimum 3 years experience coaching, mentoring and supporting team members.
* Proven experience in complex mechanical design.
* Sound competency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, Solidworks preferred or similar.
* Exceptional analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, and ability to think outside the box.
* Ability to work in an agile, dynamic, and fast-paced environment.

Location: Perth, Australia. Full working rights are required, and relocation to Perth within 2-4 weeks is expected.
