The Role

To Provide
* Professional and operational support to the Director of Nursing and Support Services (DON & SS), including relieving planned and unplanned leave and attending meeting on their behalf.
* Provide visible and accessible nursing leadership promoting a positive workplace culture based on the Ministry of Health (MoH) CORE values.
* Promoting nursing leadership where individuals understand their roles and responsibilities and are empowered to be effective in their role.
* Nursing leadership and professional development within the nursing workforce
* Facilitation of quality, safety and accreditation activities including complaints management.

Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital is steeped in history, with a legacy of nursing and medical firsts to its credit and has paved the way in many clinical areas - both nationally and internationally.
Sydney Hospital is Australia's first hospital and dates from the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788.
Today, Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospitals' state of the art facilities and professional staff provide a unique blend of general and specialist medical services for the public and community, including a 24 hour emergency services, general medicine including close observation unit, perioperative services, specialist hand and eye surgery.
The Hospital is in the heart of the Central Business District in Sydney:

Selection Criteria
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
* Current unrestricted nurse registration through AHPRA
* Recognised tertiary management qualifications including recently engaged in professional development to further enhance their management and leadership competencies with demonstrated recent experience at senior nursing management level in an acute hospital.
* Proven leadership ability and demonstrated evidence of achieving innovative change within a quality improvement, change and risk management frameworks.
* Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
* Demonstrated experience and ability in relation to monitoring and reporting on ETP, ESAP and patient flow key performance indicators including experience in managing patient flows and bed utilisation.
* Demonstrated operational, financial and human resource experience, including workforce planning and development at middle management levels.
* Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance and current nursing issues.
