At the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, every role helps children and young people live their healthiest lives.

As the largest paediatric health service in Australia, we care for thousands of children each year, in hospital and at home. Our people are united by compassion, collaboration and excellence in care.
Kids Rehab at The Children's Hospital at Westmead is one of three specialised tertiary paediatric rehabilitation centres in NSW, providing multidisciplinary, goal-directed care for children and young people who, as a result of injury, illness, a health condition or significant surgical or medical intervention, would benefit from rehabilitation. We are looking for an experienced Social Worker to join our team on a part-time basis (3 days/week). This role sits within a diverse, multidisciplinary department that delivers care across inpatient, ambulatory, outpatient and consultative settings. The Social Worker will be primarily focused on outpatient care, working closely with families participating in our Ambulatory Intensive Therapy programs and medically-led multidisciplinary clinics. The role may also provide support to families transitioning from inpatient services or engaging through co-medical care models. This is a great opportunity to work alongside a skilled and committed team, making a genuine difference for children and families navigating complex rehabilitation journeys.
What you'll be doingThe primary focus of this position is to provide a comprehensive and specialist social work service to children, young people and their families referred from the relevant clinical area. This includes psychosocial assessments, specialist counselling, group work, psycho-education and advocacy. The social worker works as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team.
The senior social work is required to play a key role in service development and continuous quality improvement to ensure clinical needs of children and their families are met. The position takes a leadership role in the development and provision of education programs in the relevant specialty for both social workers and health professionals within SCHN and externally. The social worker also provides a consultative role within their specialisation to key stakeholders.
