About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an accredited Clinical Exercise Physiologist to join UQ in a Teaching‑Focused Associate Lecturer/Lecturer role, working with world‑class mentors to build teaching excellence and lead impactful course coordination. You will take primary responsibility for four key courses spanning exercise prescription, professional skills development, and physical activity for individuals with diverse impairments across second‑ and third‑year cohorts. In this role, you will also foster meaningful internal and external collaborations that shape teaching practice, influence policy, and contribute to the advancement of education in the discipline.


Key responsibilities at Level A (Associate Lecturer) will include:

Teaching Deliver high‑quality teaching across undergraduate and honours courses in clinical exercise physiology and exercise/sport science. Coordinate and administer four core courses, ensuring accreditation compliance and smooth course operations. Oversee three student‑led clinics (Musculoskeletal Clinic, HMNS Personal Training Service, Motor Active) with some face‑to‑face teaching. Implement contemporary, student‑centred pedagogies, enhance engagement and belonging, provide academic guidance, and proactively evaluate and improve teaching effectiveness.

Research Contribute to research by seeking funding, particularly in teaching scholarship and applied research linked to student‑led clinic outcomes. Support research activities within clinical exercise physiology or exercise science and publish in quality outlets while building a national profile.

Citizenship & Service Model UQ values and actively contribute to industry, government and community engagement. Participate in School activities, committees and internal service, collaborating and supporting colleagues as required.


Key responsibilities at Level B (Lecturer) will include:

Teaching Teach across varied settings with innovative, evidence‑based pedagogies, including blended and online delivery. Coordinate courses, create engaging curricula, design assessments and provide academic support to students. Contribute to new program development, ensure course quality, and collaborate to share and strengthen teaching practice while maintaining discipline currency.

Research Advance a developing profile in teaching and learning scholarship or pedagogical research, pursuing external funding and contributing to discipline‑relevant projects. Publish in high‑quality outlets and begin building national disciplinary recognition.

Citizenship & Service Demonstrate UQ values through leadership, collaboration and community engagement. Build external partnerships, contribute to School priorities, serve on committees and support colleagues across academic activities.

About You

* PhD (or equivalent) in Clinical Exercise Physiology and/or Exercise & Sport Science.
* Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) or eligibility for rapid accreditation.
* A developing teaching and research profile in Clinical Exercise Physiology.
* Early career publication track record and emerging conference presence.
* Ability to secure and contribute to external research funding.
* Demonstrated high‑quality teaching across diverse settings.
* Experience coordinating courses and contributing to curriculum innovation.
* Engagement in internal service and meaningful external activities.
* Proven university teaching excellence and course coordination experience.
* Growing impact in teaching and an emerging research profile with strong outputs.
* Contribution to curriculum, assessment and pedagogical improvement projects, ideally with funded work.
* Experience developing programs or courses within the discipline.
* Involvement in supervision of Honours or HDR students (where appropriate).
* Strong communication and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively within academic teams.
* Professional expertise that strengthens and complements the School's capabilities.
