The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is a General Manager passionate about delivery of quality clinical services in a forensic setting to provide a critical role in Forensic Intervention Services.
About the business unit
Corrections Victoria is part of the Department of Justice and Community Safety and is responsible for the direction, management, and operation of Victoria's adult corrections system, including Community Correctional Services, public and privately operated prisons, and a transitional centre. It ensures prisoners are safely and securely contained and aims to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
As a division of Corrections Victoria, Forensic Intervention Services is a specialist program area within the Offender Services Division that provides service users in custody and in the community with offence-specific, evidence-based screening, assessment, and intervention services to support their rehabilitation. In doing so, Forensic Intervention Services is a critical component of the department's strategy to reduce reoffending and contribute to community safety.
About the role
The General Manager is responsible for the overall management of the following teams: High-Risk Management, Adapted Interventions, Medium Security Prisons, and Rivergum Clinical Services teams and the provision of strategic leadership and direction to ensure the provision of best practice clinical services.
The General Manager, Operations is also responsible for the provision of authoritative technical advice to Corrections Victoria Senior Management regarding emergent trends in the treatment needs and practices to assist in setting evidence-based policy direction.
This position also forms part of the Forensic Intervention Services leadership group.
**Some of your duties will include**:
- Ensure the scheduling and delivery of assessments, management and interventions meets service delivery targets, and that the integrity of the clinical services delivered are aligned with the operating model.
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the delivery of clinical services to relevant service users across Prisons, in alignment with best practice, high-level government policy, legal, stakeholder and operational priorities.
- Proactively identify and analyse emerging systemic issues and trends impacting delivery of clinical services to relevant people. Provide authoritative, robust and contemporary advice to senior management about how to respond to those issues, including implications and risk management strategies.

About you
**To be successful in this role, you will have**:
- Significant demonstrated experience in leading and effectively managing a team of professionals to deliver services within a complex service system.
- Demonstrated understanding of the legislative and operational considerations impacting delivery of clinical services within a forensic environment.
- Awareness of key issues impacting the delivery of programs and services within Corrections Victoria, and/or demonstrated expertise in the assessment and treatment of individuals is highly desirable.
- Expertise in the risk assessment and offence specific interventions is desirable.
**Qualifications**:
- Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia; or
- Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW); or
- Credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses; or
- Registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia is desirable.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in psychology, the social sciences and/or public policy is desirable.
