Family Services Practitioner (Integrated Family Support Services)
Location: Mowbray, TAS
Overview
In this part-time role, you'll work directly with families experiencing challenges, providing practical support and evidence-based interventions. You'll help families build resilience, strengthen relationships, and create positive change in their lives. Participating in a range of programs, you will provide families/carers with support within a managed case/placement plan. Programs include Integrated Family Support Service (IFSS), Foster and Kinship Carer Support Service, Community Kinship Support Service, SafeCare, Caring Dad's, and Targeted Youth Support Service (TYSS).
Responsibilities
* Manage caseloads and coordinate comprehensive support services for vulnerable families, children, and young people
* Develop and implement family-centered case plans through active engagement and assertive outreach
* Train and assess potential Foster Care families while supporting existing carers through peer groups and skill development
* Prepare high-quality written reports for internal and external stakeholders within required timeframes
* Provide short-term assessment and crisis support for grandparents and relatives transitioning to carer roles
* Deliver evidence-based practices and group programs while maintaining program fidelity
* Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams and maintain positive relationships with other service providers
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including Children, Young Persons and Their Families Act 1997 and Child Safe Standards
* Demonstrate commitment to child safety and culturally responsive practice for diverse communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
* Participate in meaningful community engagement and contribute to positive team environments
Key Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated comprehensive family and carer assessment skills
* Demonstrated skills in case management and active assertive outreach and engagement with families
* Demonstrated evidence-informed knowledge and understanding of child development, trauma, family and child/risk assessment skills
* Demonstrated evidence-informed knowledge and application of therapeutic models and theories to develop skill-based interventions that enable positive change
* A demonstrated understanding of the complexity of the child and the family support systems and the issues involved in providing services to families and children with complex needs

You must also have
* A relevant tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, social welfare (or related field) or a Diploma in Community Services with minimum two years' experience
* Competency in using the range of Microsoft Office computer software
* The right to work in Australia
* Australian Driver's Licence
* Satisfactory National Police Clearance (will be completed post-interview for applicants moving onto next stage of recruitment)
* Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
