Dedicated Conference Centres P/L trading as Verdure Bistro is a busy café style eatery in Romsey serving delicious modern meals. We seek a qualified and experienced Head Cook to join our energetic team. This position prepares delicious meals according to our menu and provides recommendations for seasonal menu changes and improvements. You will cook dishes that will delight our customers with their taste, presentation and timely delivery.
An excellent candidate can follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. You must be precise in moving around the kitchen. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important.
Responsibilities:
* Follow food safety requirements
* Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment to maximize efficiency
* Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.)
* Food preparation and cooking, also ensuring good presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
* Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
* Ensure all food and other items are stored correctly
* Monitor stock and place orders as required.
Requirements:
* Trade qualification in cookery and at least 3 years plus experience as a cook in a busy kitchen cooking Australian cuisine
* Regional cuisines with fresh produce is an advantage
* Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bake ware
* Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
* Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
* Ability to work in a team and a good team player
* Excellent communication skills
* Energetic 'can do' attitude supported by strong interpersonal skills
