Consultant Paediatrician - Year 1 to Year 9
This is a Permanent Part Time position 0.36 EFT/ 25.2 hours per fortnight within Department of General Medicine. This role begins in February 2025.
0.1- Weekly outpatient clinic
0.2- 13 inpatient ward weeks
0.06 - CST
You will be responsible for.
**_ Clinical Services - Inpatients_**
- Participation in the inpatient clinical activities of the Department, including 13 weeks of ward service and participation in the after-hours on-call roster
- Responsibility for management of inpatients admitted under the General Medicine team while on ward service, including provision of contemporary comprehensive specialist services for optimal patient outcomes
- Lead ward round discussions with fellows, registrars, medical students and nursing staff regarding admitted patients, encouraging active participation in care and clinical decision making
- Work in partnership with other medical, nursing and allied health professionals to provide best practice care for paediatric patients in a multidisciplinary setting
- Liaison with parents/carers re procedures and plans regarding medical care
**_Clinical Services - Outpatients_**
- Delivery of a weekly outpatient clinic
**_Non-Clinical_**
- Timely and accurate completion of patient related documentation, including EMR encounters, outpatient documentation and any other required documentation relevant to enhancing continuity of care
**_Quality_**
- Utilise information systems to enable informed decision making and care planning
- Actively participate in risk management and quality programs to improve organisational processes and own practices
**_Education_**
- Undertake continuing education opportunities to foster safe clinical practice, quality initiative and research
- Undertake supervision and education within the clinical environment of Fellows, Registrars, Undergraduate medical students and other relevant staff to foster safe clinical practice (where applicable)
**_Performance Review_**
Participate in self-reflective practice
Classification for this position will range from HN16-HN59
**Your skills and experience**:
**Essential**:
- MBBS (or equivalent)
- FRACP - General Paediatrics (or equivalent)
- Specialist Registration with AHPRA and eligibility for medical registration within Victoria
**Desirable**:
- Previous experience delivering inpatient care at a tertiary hospital

**About General Medicine**
The Department of General Medicine is one of the largest departments at RCH. At any time, a total of 91 staff (Senior Medical, Junior Medical, Nursing, and Administrative) work in the Department. The Department of General Medicine has a range of sub-specialty interests in addition to General Paediatrics and is committed to the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care. There are 3 subspecialty units within it, including Rheumatology, Refugee/Migrant Health and Clinical Pharmacology. All units report to the Director of General Medicine.
