Senior Legal Counsel – Construction/ Major Projects/ Renewable Energy - 8+ PQE
Our client is a contractor that specialises in the development and maintenance of critical public and private infrastructure assets. Their services span the full asset lifecycle – from design and construction to operations, maintenance, and remediation.
Responsibilities
* Leading and project-managing tender processes for major projects (from initiation to award), collaborating closely with the commercial team.
* Negotiating high-value construction contracts with deal values ranging up to $2 billion.
* Advising on procurement strategies, including public-private partnerships (PPPs), competitive bidding, and alternative delivery models.
* Drafting and reviewing project-specific legal documents, such as letters of intent and framework agreements, to support productive project mobilisation.
* Partnering with external counsel to advise on regulatory compliance matters, including environmental, planning, and health and safety requirements during the pre- and post-construction phase. This will involve approximately one site visit per month.
* Assisting in structuring transactions and supporting the negotiation and execution of major project deals across the region.
* Providing proactive advice on legal and commercial issues and managing contractual risks to minimise disputes.
Ideal Candidate
* At least 8 years' experience in front-end construction, projects and related transactions.
* Be confident leading a project.
* Ideally you have both private practice and in house experience.
* Can do, positive attitude who is very comfortable working in a team and managing multi-disciplinary projects across the business.
