The Role:
The Shipping Support Officer provides a consistent and reliable point of contact for internal and external stakeholders involved in vessel operations. The role ensures the timely receipt, validation and collation of shipping information, supports ship vetting processes, and contributes to the effective planning, berthing, loading and sailing of vessels.
We're Looking For:
We are seeking an individual who demonstrates professionalism, initiative and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will bring:
* Experience in maritime operations, logistics, bulk loading or similar environments
* Well‐developed analytical and problem‐solving abilities
* Confidence liaising with a range of stakeholders
* Ability to interpret and apply procedures, regulations and operational requirements
* Working knowledge of information systems and Microsoft Office
Key Responsibilities include:
* Ensure compliance with DBCT P/L Terminal Regulations and stakeholder requirements.
* Manage commercial documentation and serve as a key stakeholder contact.
* Support logistics planning for efficient vessel scheduling, loading, and sailing.
* Build strong relationships with DBCT P/L Users to provide support and updates.
* Conduct vessel vetting and ensure adherence to Terminal Regulations.
* Communicate key shipping information for smooth shift handovers.
* Stay informed on site activities and liaise with specialists to address potential issues.
* Provide training and support for operational software and systems.
* Recommend improvements to shipping and vessel management processes.
* Ensure full compliance with regulatory and legislative frameworks.
* Share feedback with planners and update Shipping Officers on changes.
* Assist the Shipping Superintendent where required.
* Ability to work a lifestyle roster of day shift only; being 4 on, 5 off, 5 on, 4 off, 5 on, 5 off.
