The Production Department is a critical function of our business, responsible for the cleaning, filling and emptying of growing rooms to support strong yields, quality outcomes and cost-effective operations.
We are seeking an experienced full-time, permanent Production Team Manager to lead our Production Department, overseeing both morning and afternoon operations to ensure smooth, efficient and consistent performance across the day.
About the
The Production Manager is accountable for the overall performance of the Production Department across all operational periods.
To provide the strongest leadership coverage, the role will work core hours commencing in the afternoon, with flexibility to attend earlier starts when required to oversee morning operations and ensure continuity, efficiency and operational flow.
Production Operations
Plan, schedule and oversee the cleaning, filling and emptying of growing rooms in line with production plans and quality specifications provided by the Head Grower / Managing Director.
Complete post-fill assessments in collaboration with the Assistant Grower to optimise production outcomes.
Coordinate traffic management, deliveries and the removal of spent compost with customers and contractors.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, supervise and develop the Production Team across morning and afternoon operations.
Provide visible leadership and direction to ensure work is completed efficiently and consistently across the department.
Train, mentor and coach team members, including room cleaners, to maintain performance and accountability.
Prepare and approve rosters and timesheets, ensuring adequate staffing to meet operational requirements.
Budget & Compliance Management
Manage and approve daily operational expenses in line with approved budgets.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and operational standards.
Contribute to strategic planning and budget preparation to support business objectives.
Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement
Proactively identify and resolve production issues that may impact timelines, quality or efficiency.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and reduce costs.
Compliance & Safety
Maintain a safe and compliant work environment and ensure adherence to health and safety obligations.
Manage performance and conduct matters, including disciplinary processes, when required.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience in a Production Manager or similar leadership role, ideally within agriculture, manufacturing or food production.
Strong organisational and problem-solving capability with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Demonstrated experience leading teams across varying start times and operational demands.
Sound knowledge of production processes, traffic management and quality control practices.
Experience with rostering, timesheet approval and budget management.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with team members and external stakeholders.
