Security Engineer Intern at Atlassian, working remotely, focusing on product, corporate, and detection security in a 12-week paid internship.
Your Role
Here's what you will be doing:
* Collaborate with developers to identify, resolve, and prevent vulnerabilities in products through source code auditing, threat modelling, and security reviews.
* Enhance security of internal assets and networks, promoting security awareness and continuous improvement.
* Monitor and analyze logs to detect threats, develop detection logic, create alerts, and respond to incidents.
* Conduct penetration testing and Red Team activities to evaluate and strengthen security posture.
* Contribute to security governance frameworks and risk management strategies across the organisation.
* Write automation to find and exploit vulnerabilities in products and marketplace apps.
* Research and suggest product features to harden software against vulnerabilities.
* Architect and secure hardware, networks, and corporate infrastructure.
About You
The company is looking for:
* Ability to commit to a 12‐week full‐time (40hrs/week) internship from November 2026 to February 2027.
* Current full‐time enrolment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field, with graduation by January 2028 and returning to studies post‐internship.
* Ambitious and driven individuals excited to work on complex security challenges.
* Strong interest in web application security, encryption, authentication, access control, and risk management.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
* Preferred experience programming in Java, Python, JavaScript, or other object‐oriented languages.
* Demonstrated interest in security through coursework, previous work or internships, or personal projects.
