About the role
We're looking for a Technical Workshop Assistant who's comfortable rolling up their sleeves, working with power tools to build test rigs, prepare and test products in the laboratory and getting stuck into real-world product evaluation. If you like variety, practical problem-solving and seeing your work feed directly into product development, you'll fit in here.
You'll be part of the specialised team that keeps CSR's innovation pipeline moving. This work underpins product compliance, competitor analysis and new product experimentation across the range of CSR products You'll play a part in meaningful, hands-on technical work.
What you'll do
* Building mock-up building assemblies following NCC-compliant construction methods.
* Preparing, installing and assessing new and existing products for ease of install, durability, fit-for-purpose performance and benchmarking.
* Cutting samples, setting up tests, running lab work and capturing accurate, reliable data.
* Designing experiments and assisting in test-method development with Innovation, Category and Compliance teams.
* Coordinating external testing with bodies like CSIRO and NATA labs.
* Creating prototypes and mock-ups to support new product development.
* Preparing customer samples and providing lab-based support to other technical teams.
* Writing clear reports, comparison summaries and documenting procedures.
About you
* Experience in lab, workshop or testing environments
* Ability to use hand and power tools confidently
* Strong written communication and data recording skills
* A practical mindset and willingness to be hands-on every day
* Technical trade qualification in a construction-related field - not essential
* Experience building or testing building assemblies
* Familiarity with NCC-compliant construction methods - not essential
* Exposure to external testing bodies (CSIRO, NATA labs, universities)
* Basic project coordination skills
