The General Ward comprises 30 beds, including a Close Observation Unit for patients requiring a higher level of care. Medical Services are provided by ward-based doctors, and Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs), including local General Practitioners who have admitting rights.
As a Career Medical Officer, you will be supported and supervised by specialist staff and will provide supervision to Junior Medical Officers in the wards.
This is a full-time vacancy, commencing February 2026 for a period of up to 24 months.

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Career Medical Officer (CMO) is to provide independent, high level medical care, including responsibility for the assessment, investigation and initial management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department and those admitted to inpatient wards. The CMO will be supervised by specialist staff and provide supervision and support to junior medical staff in the Medical wards.
* Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role (please address these in your response). A minimum of 3 years of postgraduate experience, including extensive, recent experience in Adult Internal medicine
* Advanced ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care
* Advanced written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and others members of the health care team
* Advanced organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment
* Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
* Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education
* Demonstrated competency in clinical skills including advanced life support with ability to perform ALS procedures, interpreting patient history, physical examination, pathology, ECG and radiological investigations to diagnose simple and complex Medical presentations
* Willing to participate in the on call roster as the CMO may be required to be first on-call as dictated by the medical roster. A senior medical officer will be available for advice when the CMO is on-call
