Buckland is a quality provider of Aged Care services situated in Springwood in the Lower Blue Mountains NSW. We are a well-established non-for-profit organisation and are well respected in our community.
Schedule
Week 1: Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm
Week 2: Monday - Thursday 6:30am - 3:00pm
Please note: The GSO Department covers cleaning, kitchen & laundry. All GSO staff may be required to train & work in all areas as needed by the Facility.
Responsibilities
* Assisting the cook with the preparation of meal ingredients (food and beverage)
* Serving of resident meals
* Cleaning and sanitizing all food preparation area according to standards of WHS and hygiene standards
* Use of the commercial dishwasher to wash cooking appliances, instruments, utensils, cutting boards and dishes
* General kitchen cleaning and sanitizing according to daily cleaning schedule
* Organizing and correctly storing food supplies
* Promptly transferring meal ingredients from storage areas to kitchen area
* Completing required documentation and reporting
* Adhering to WH&S; requirements including the secure storage and use of chemicals and equipment.
Qualities and Experience
* Have experience working in cooking and food preparation
* Have at least 1 year's experience in a similar role
* Have completed a food handling certificate or Hospitality qualification - desirable but not essential
* A knowledge of safe food handling principles & how to create a safe working environment
* Have knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety principles
* Have strong organisational and time management skills
* Be proactive, flexible, able to show initiative and effectively work as part of a team
* Be willing to learn and commit to ongoing professional development
* Have a high-level attention to detail
* Versatile and willing to undertake a wide variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment
* Understands the need for privacy & confidentiality
* Have their own transport or live locally
