Senior Fund Accountant - Global Investment Manager
Our client, a large top-tier Global Asset Manager, is looking for a Senior Fund Accounting Specialist responsible for the tax accounting and distribution process for their Australian business.
This newly created, permanent role will oversee external fund administrators who handle fund accounting duties for a large number of high value funds. The successful candidate will build on their fund accounting experience within a fund manager environment and advance their career.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and review external fund administrators’ work.
* Deliver accurate and timely tax reporting.
* Manage auditors throughout the tax audit process.
* Maintain fund tax profiles and security static data used for reporting and tax calculations.
* Assist in the completion of projects, including testing of tax templates.
* Design and implement fund control framework.
* Execute control checks.
* Review accuracy of unit prices calculated by external administrators.
* Address internal and external fund accounting queries.
* Oversee, coordinate and review fund distributions.
* Manage third‑party vendors (fund accountants, administrators, custodians).
* Coordinate and communicate inquiries to appropriate internal departments.
* Develop reports for Funds Management, operations committee, Boards & Management.
* Support Account Management and business development activities (e.g., reports and advice).
* Support fund launches.
* Manage projects related to process improvements, procedures and system development.
Experience / Knowledge
* Minimum 5 years in a similar role with a Fund Manager, Administrator or Custodian.
* Strong understanding of fund accounting (including accounting systems) and exposure to a broad range of fund structures.
* Experience supporting/reporting for income/yield‑oriented fund types.
* Deep knowledge of Net Asset Value calculation and various asset/security types.
* Proficiency in Tax and Trust Distribution processes.
* Ability to develop robust control frameworks.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
