Are you a hands-on data governance professional ready to lead a strategic uplift in a dynamic, purpose-driven organisation? We’re currently seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead to join a respected institution in the higher education sector based in Newcastle.
About the Role
In this key role, you’ll be responsible for leading the implementation of a data governance framework, developing policy statements, and enhancing existing governance models to support the university’s data maturity journey.
You’ll work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams, confidently bridging strategy with delivery—guiding the big picture while also rolling up your sleeves to get things done. You’ll also serve as the primary point of contact for external vendors, playing a central role in aligning business outcomes with platform capabilities.
This role is a 2-3 year Fixed Term Contract, based in Newcastle and offers up to $136,000 per year.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a fit-for-purpose data governance framework
* Author and maintain data governance policies and standards
* Build on and refine existing data governance models
* Act as the main point of contact for vendors
* Work with platforms including Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Fabric
* Engage stakeholders across business and IT to drive adoption and compliance
About You
* Proven experience delivering and implementing data governance initiatives
* Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement ability
* Comfortable working across both strategic and operational levels
* Experience with Microsoft Purview and Fabric
* Qualifications such as PMBOK and CDMP (highly regarded)
* Ability to thrive in a hybrid work model (3 days on site in Newcastle)
