Job Description: Legal Officer, Justice
This role forms part of a continuous recruitment pool to fill temporary fixed-term vacancies in various chambers across Queensland. As a legal officer, you will be responsible for preparing cases for prosecution and engaging with diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare complex cases for prosecution, including appeal submissions, with professionalism and efficiency.
* Engage with defence counsel, solicitors, police officers, victims, and witnesses to ensure effective communication and case management.
* Represent the organisation as an advocate in various settings, including prosecuting or defending appeals in the District Court.
* Lead critical hearings, such as committal and summary hearings in the Magistrates Court, and provide vital liaison with complainants and their families in sensitive and complex cases involving sexual and violent offences.
* Mentor, motivate, and guide legal support staff to foster a supportive and high-performing workplace culture.
* Contribute to initiatives that enhance work practices and empower the team to contribute to continuous improvement within the organisation.
