About the role
This role is responsible for the safe, efficient delivery of road maintenance services that keep Hobart moving. You'll work as part of a skilled and supportive team to maintain roads and related infrastructure in line with Council by‐laws, industry standards and approved safety systems.
With a strong focus on quality, safety and community outcomes, this role plays a vital part in delivering reliable, well‐maintained public assets for the City of Hobart.
Role accountabilities include:
* Contribute to the maintenance of Hobart's roads, footpaths, signage, street furniture and line marking as part of a collaborative, hands‐on team.
* Deliver safe, efficient and cost‐effective services in line with Council standards, by‐laws and WHS requirements.
* Operate plant and machinery confidently and in accordance with approved procedures and safety guidelines.
* Work closely with supervisors and team members to plan resources and coordinate work, including external contractors when required.
* Proactively identify and manage workplace hazards, demonstrating a strong commitment to safety for colleagues and the community.
* Support asset data collection and be available for after‐hours emergency response and overtime as required.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will hold a Medium Rigid (MR) truck licence, a current driver licence and a White Card. You will bring demonstrated hands‐on experience in civil maintenance works, particularly concreting and asphalting, and be confident operating a range of plant and equipment such as excavators, rollers, skid steer loaders and power tools.
You will have a strong understanding of work health and safety principles and the ability to apply worksite traffic management controls in high‐risk environments. Your practical problem‐solving skills will enable you to manage day‐to‐day operational issues safely and effectively.
