Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of the engineering department, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing and certifying mechanical/structural systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and analyze mechanical/structural systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
* Evaluate Aircraft Role Equipment and ALSE to identify potential design issues.
* Develop and derive requirements, verification and documentation to support regulatory and company certification processes.
* Perform structural analysis (FEA, etc) to demonstrate margins, loads and compliance with applicable standards.
* Develop and execute verification and validation plans, test plans, test articles, data collection and report generation.
* Support certification efforts by preparing compliance matrices, certification packages and interacting with certification authorities.
* Define design to manufacturing interfaces and provide producibility and assembly guidance.
* Coordinate with systems, manufacturing, test and certification teams to ensure compliant, producible and safe designs.
* Support System Safety by contributing to Risk Assessments, Risk Reviews and participating in System Safety Working Groups.
* Support failure/defect and occurrence reporting investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions and design updates.
* Provide technical input to Configuration Management and support development, incorporation and service release activities.
* Liaise with Defence stakeholders to coordinate delivery of design and certification services.
Requirements:
* Tertiary-qualified Mechanical / Structural / Aerospace Engineer that satisfies Engineers Australia membership requirements (MIEAust).
* Demonstrated experience in aircraft modification design and/or certification activities.
* Experience in regulated aviation environments (CASA, DASA, FAA etc.) is highly desirable.
* Excellent written and verbal communication; able to interface with certification authorities, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong attention to detail, systems thinking, and disciplined documentation practices.
* Ability to prioritize tasks in a schedule-driven environment.
* Collaborative mindset with ability to work in cross-functional teams.
* Proactive problem-solver, resilient under certification and program pressures.
