PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
The General Manager role is to provide strategic advice and drive economic growth opportunities for Aboriginal Businesses in the Goldfields-Esperance region.
The General Manager will work with the GABC board members, GABC members and key stakeholders to manage and progress these opportunities.
A key part of the role will be to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including Mineral Resources Limited, BHP and other resource companies operating in the Goldfields-Esperance, industry associations, operators and Indigenous partners and leverage opportunities with these stakeholders.
A further element of this role is working with GABC members to determine their business support needs and support them to connect them to appropriate business advisory services available through government or industry funded programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Support the development of business opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the Goldfields-Esperance region.
* Support the development and implementation of partnership agreements with key stakeholders and host events outlined in partnership.
* Provide advice on a range of business development activities including:
* Manage relationships with stakeholders including negotiating contracts, managing fee structures, and ROI on co-operative alliances opportunities.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with business development and support services provided by governments and NGOs so that Aboriginal people can assess and utilise these services effectively.
* Work closely with GABC board members to ensure that business development opportunities are maximised with key stakeholders and potential partners.
* Ensure strong internal communication and work with GABC board members to assist them in understanding the value and importance of the marketplace and building co-operative relations with key stakeholder.
* Work with individuals and Aboriginal businesses to support the development and implementation of business cases that leverage skills and expertise, together with opportunities in the Goldfields-Esperance region. Support will include business advice, mentoring and capacity building.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Qualifications:
* Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Accounting, Project Management, or in a relevant field an advantage
Experience:
* Experience in establishing in supporting Aboriginal economic development activities including business planning, feasibility and risk analysis.
* Experience in financial analysis, management and cost control an advantage
* Strong governance and communication Skills
* The ability to work well under pressure and maintain a consistent approach in challenging situations with highly ethical standards and integrity.
Knowledge:
* Awareness of the issues affecting Aboriginal people, preferably in the Goldfields-Esperance region, and experience working with Indigenous people
* Sound knowledge of financial management, budgeting and access to finance
* Sound knowledge and understanding of resource industry networks in Western Australia.
Special conditions:
* A Current Western Australian Drivers Licence.
* National Police Clearance.
* The position is required to work within GABC's strategic direction and values.
* Pass pre-employment medical including Drug & Alcohol test.

· Up to $110k + super
