C2 Mist is seeking talented engineers to build the online orchestration system for compute workloads on Amazon EC2 in Cape Town, South Africa. The role involves collaborating with a top‐tier community of engineers to design, implement, test, and operate large‐scale distributed systems that improve customer access to EC2 compute resources.
The ideal candidate has strong software engineering experience, a passion for distributed systems, and an interest in applying machine learning and optimization techniques to large‐scale problems. You have demonstrated experience working with a team to design, build, and operate large‐scale systems. You possess solid engineering fundamentals, a data‐driven approach to problem solving, and strong communication skills. You thrive in a fast‐moving, small‐team environment and are committed to delivering results.
Basic Qualifications
* Non‐internship experience in professional software development
* Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling)
* Programming experience in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# with object‐oriented design
Preferred Qualifications
* 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, operations)
* Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
