What We're Looking For:

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join the Urban Development Services group. This role is fundamental in ensuring the construction of all new assets meet the relevant engineering standards and the long-term interests of Icon Water.

About this role: As part of the Development Services team, the Hydraulic Asset Inspector is responsible for ensuring new water and sewer assets intended for handover to Icon Water are constructed in accordance with Icon Water standards, ACT regulations, industry codes, Australian Standards and other statutory requirements.

In addition, the Hydraulic Asset Inspector should have the ability to participate in making decisions on non-standard construction and is capable to work with design consultants, plumbers and developers.

You will also be required to:

1. In accordance with the Icon Water Standards, and under general direction, carry out random and programmed surveillance inspections of civil engineering construction activities during construction of new water supply and sewer assets (Gifted Assets) intended for connection to the Icon Water networks.
2. Review and assess quality control documentation submitted for hydraulic development projects (Inspection and test plans, construction method statements, etc); review and assess all documentation submitted in support of application for handover of new hydraulic assets.
3. During the operational acceptance phase, carry out handover inspection and acceptance testing of all new water supply and sewerage assets intended for future operation by Icon Water; review and assess CCTV inspection videos and inspection reports submitted by contractors; recommend for handover and connection to the networks, and issue of relevant operational certificates.
4. Liaise with Maintenance Services Branch personnel, contractors and consultants, and facilitate connection of the new assets by Maintenance Services Branch.
5. Carry out final inspection of assets on completion of the Developer's Defects Liability Period
6. Respond to technical enquiries from civil contractors, consultants and suppliers; provide assistance and advice on interpretation of and compliance with applicable standards and the rectification of non-compliance; assist with locating service ties.
7. Introduce lead indicators for safety by participating in preventing and tracking incidents and Action Close-out performance as well as ownership of workplace risk assessments.
8. Maintain daily project records on official files and in software systems, such as the Customer Management Platform (CMP), Sharepoint and Excel.
9. Advise external contractors on Icon water's processes, procedures and suitable techniques for working in and or around Icon networks and infrastructure.
10. Engage with customers and other parties to facilitate compliance with utility legislation and where necessary implement Icon Water's network protection notification process.
11. Other duties, as reasonably required by the business

Who we are looking for: We're seeking a dedicated individual who has extensive experience in the civil engineering construction practices, in the construction, maintenance and repair of urban water supply and sewerage systems. You will also need:

12. Sound ability to read and understand hydraulic services design drawings and undertake basic calculations with a working knowledge of basic hydraulics.
13. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with contractors, consultants and Icon Water's customers at all times, especially in sometimes confrontational situations.
14. Be familiar with Water Services Association Australia (WSAA) Standards, Icon Water's publicly available water supply and wastewater standards and other applicable Australian Standards.
15. Sound ability to read and understand engineering drawings and understanding of hydraulics.
16. Experience in the use of CCTV equipment and interpretation of inspection reports from internal inspections of sewer and stormwater pipelines.
17. Formal trade qualifications of Sanitary Drainers Licence or equivalent.
18. Driver's License. Class C.
