Our team seeks a skilled Project Manager to lead an international research collaboration between the University of Western Australia and a Southeast Asian institution. This position will play a key role in establishing a Biomedicine and Vaccine Innovation Lab at our university.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a multi-year public health research program with global significance and long-term regional impact. Our goal is to evaluate a low-cost, non-invasive diagnostic method for detecting Helicobacter pylori infection in Cambodia.
Job Description
The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the planning and execution of project activities in Cambodia. Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and maintaining detailed implementation plans, including timelines, risk registers, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
* Monitoring progress against key milestones and managing adjustments as needed.
* Managing project budgets, procurement planning, and resource allocation in line with funder requirements.
The Project Manager will also be responsible for coordinating clinical and laboratory activities, including liaising with partner hospitals and clinics, supporting the establishment and maintenance of H. pylori culturing systems, and ensuring SOPs and laboratory documentation are developed and followed.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* At least 3 years of experience managing biomedical or clinical research projects.
* Demonstrated ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder initiatives with strict timelines.
* Experience working in multicultural or international settings.
* Bachelor's degree in biomedical science, public health, pharmacy, or a related field.
A Master's degree in a related discipline is strongly preferred, as is training or certification in project management or research ethics.
Benefits
This is a full-time position based at our university in Phnom Penh. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Research and work closely with the Faculty of Pharmacy, project investigators, and international partners.
Initial contract duration will be 12 months, with potential for extension based on performance and funding availability.
