Safety Systems Engineer: Plan and Execute Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning Activities
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Safety Systems Engineer to join our team in Perth, Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) in the oil and gas industry.
Main Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement comprehensive plans for pre-commissioning and commissioning of SIS, including ESD (Emergency Shutdown), F&G (Fire and Gas), and PSD (Process Shutdown) systems.
* Evaluate and verify that SIS installation and configuration meet project and international standards (IEC 61511, IEC 61508).
* Analyze and validate functional logic, cause and effect matrices, and SRS (Safety Requirement Specifications).
* Conduct loop checks, function testing, and validation of safety instrumented functions (SIFs).
* Collaborate with DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems during integrated testing.
* Coordinate with construction, QA/QC, operations, and engineering teams to ensure proper completion of punch lists and commissioning milestones.
* Participate in HAZOP, SIL validation, and performance verification activities.
* Lead or support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) of SIS equipment.
* Maintain accurate commissioning documentation: test procedures, red-line drawings, ITRs, and punch lists.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Engineering (or equivalent).
* 5+ years of relevant experience in commissioning and start-up of SIS in offshore oil & gas environments.
* In-depth knowledge of safety systems: Yokogawa Process Control or/and HIMA HIMAX for emergency shutdown and fire & gas PLCS (Programmable Logic Controllers).
* Experience with major SIS vendors.
* Valid offshore certifications (e.g., BOSIET, MSIC, OGUK medical) - we can assist with acquiring most of these for the right candidate.
* Familiarity with completions systems.
