Our client is a government regulator within the transport sector ensuring compliance and enforcement in vehicle safety. Currently there is an opportunity for an Assistant Director to take a leading role in undertaking a range of regulatory, compliance, inspection and strategic support activities. This includes proactively leading a small team responsible for progressing formal regulatory investigations in accordance with AGIS requirements; reviewing and assessing enquires related to alleged non‑compliance with relevant legislation; and resolving alleged non‑compliance matters in a timely manner. You will lead the team in the analysis of information gathered as a result of investigative activities (i.e. either desk or field) and then make informed and proportionate regulatory enforcement recommendations for senior decision makers regularly demonstrating highly developed legislative interpretation skills. If required you will also work directly with other authorities in relation to matters under investigation, inquiry, and / or court or tribunal proceedings and develop and lead the preparation of detailed operational policy, procedures, templates and guidance materials to support the Section's compliance and enforcement functions which at times could include domestic and international travel.
To succeed in the position, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to generate high‑quality written materials to support sensitive regulatory decision making. You will have several years' experience leading and conducting investigations in regulated environments. You will have capacity to work on multiple tasks, while also delivering various work products within deadlines with the ability to effectively manage and lead a team that undertakes investigations, enforcement and / or regulatory activities. Ideally you will have an understanding of government administrative frameworks and decision‑making processes and formal qualifications and / or relevant extensive experience in any of the following: investigations, audit, law, regulation, regulatory risk management, compliance familiarity with RVS legislation and legislative interpretation. Familiarity with and demonstrated history of working with the CDPP and a Diploma in Government Investigations (or recognised equivalent) is important. Base‑line security clearance or ability to obtain is essential.

Casual Loading
Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
