Are you an experienced trade assistant looking for your next exciting opportunity?

Are you keen to work alongside a team of experienced and qualified Mechanics?

CDC NT has an exciting opportunity for a proactive and safety focused trade assistant to join the workshop team based at the Berrimah depot.

Reporting to the Workshop Leading Hand, you will be a valued member of the team assisting in the maintenance and repair of our fleet of approximately 190 vehicles.

General Responsibilities

All duties will be under supervision unless otherwise directed, and appropriate to your level of experience and training received.

Duties will require you working with hand tools, plant machinery and equipment.

Assist mechanic with carrying out servicing in line with CDC's routine vehicle service schedule

Carry out repairs (stitching) and replace passenger seats

Pick up and drop off parts to/from depots/suppliers/breakdowns

Perform morning daily checks on buses (oils, coolant, belts)

Carry out weekly service on the wash pad/water oil separator

Cleaning and maintenance of wash pad area

Move buses around the yard for contractors

Provide coverage for driving/caring as required

Carry out diagnostic testing and repair as required (specifically NEC)

Investigate and carry out basic defect repairs identified by drivers, where possible

Assisting with the management of parts stock and inspections

About You

To be successful in this position, you will have an awareness of the requirements of a vehicle maintenance workshop environment, and some knowledge of electrical and mechanical components of a vehicle. You will also have an understanding of WHS in a workshop.

To be successful in the role you will have:

A current and valid NT MR Drivers Licence (minimum)

At least 2 years' experience working in a workshop – preference will be given to those who have worked with heavy vehicles

A forklift licence and other vocational trade qualifications will be looked upon favourably.
