We are looking for an experienced regulatory economics leader to drive strategic economic advice and analysis for the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). What you will do as
The Regulatory Economics Unit (REU) sits within the broader Economic Group. The Senior Regulatory Economics Strategic Director will manage and coordinate REU’s advice within the ACCC/AER and support the Economic Group General Manager.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of complex, technical economic advice in an accessible format for non‑technical stakeholders, including Commissioners and line areas.
* Drive the change‑management program to improve the use of economic analysis across the Economic Group.
* Build sustainable, productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
* Manage, mentor and advise Principal and Senior Economists in REU to ensure high‑quality outputs.
* Establish systems and frameworks that apply rigorous economic principles to ACCC and AER decision‑making.
* Engage with senior internal and external stakeholders to enhance understanding of economic analysis in regulatory decisions.
* Represent the ACCC nationally and internationally in industry and government engagement.
* Lead a professional team, model leadership behaviours, coach, provide continuous feedback, resolve conflict and support career development.
About You
* Advanced economic credentials with the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively.
* Demonstrated experience leading economic teams and managing staff.
* Post‑graduate qualifications in economics.
* In‑depth knowledge of regulatory economic concepts relevant to the ACCC.
* Strong understanding of contemporary and emerging cross‑jurisdictional regulatory issues.
* Seven or more years of experience leading economic advice for regulatory functions (or equivalent).
* Substantial practical experience applying micro‑ and financial economics to regulation.

Salary
EL2 $143,411 – $168,064 (plus 15.4% superannuation). Additional allowance may apply through an IFA.
