Guardian Australia is part of Guardian News & Media (GNM), publisher of As a leading global media organisation, we are renowned for our pioneering independent journalism and our award-winning digital products.We are seeking a chief political correspondent to join our Editorial team in Canberra, to produce timely, accurate and insightful coverage of political developments, breaking original, agenda-setting stories, writing political features and analysis.This role is being offered on a full-time permanent basis, working over a seven-day roster with early starts or late finishes.In this role you will Write news stories, interviews and backgrounders to tight, rolling deadlinesWrite political features and analysisGenerate ideas, break original stories and undertake investigationsBe able to stand in when the political editor is absent or on assignmentPlay a role in multimedia coverage including audio and video contentEmploy a transparent process and be open to challenge and correctionAs a member of the politics team, share responsibility for regular weekend and out of hours workingAssist in forward planning for elections, byelections, budget and other key eventsYou'll bring.
