Overview
Position Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist (Grade 2), Custodial Mental Health, Bathurst Correctional Centre, Justice Health – PFT.
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time • Hours per Week: 38 • Remuneration: $113,243.15 - $116,963.48 p.a plus superannuation.
Location: Bathurst Correctional Centre (BCC) – a mixed-security facility for male offenders, located 210 km west of Sydney and near Bathurst town centre.

The role supports provision of safe, evidence-based, person-centred mental health care in line with the Ministry of Health standards and NSW Health practices, with emphasis on Trauma Informed Care and Recovery principles and the National Practice Standards for Mental Health Workforce.
Responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Grade 2 Custodial Mental Health is responsible for assessment and management of mental health issues, discharge planning and transfer of care, and providing strong clinical leadership in the ongoing development and review of treatment planning and clinical review systems for patients with mental health concerns.
Care is delivered to a high standard, in accordance with MoH and statutory authorities.
Essential Requirements
- Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Three years\' full-time experience working in mental health and post-graduate qualifications in mental health, or a combination of equivalent experience and qualifications.
The Location
The Bathurst Correctional Centre (BCC) is a mixed-security facility for male offenders located in Bathurst. BCC serves as a reception prison for Western NSW and provides multi-disciplinary care to inmates, including education and wellbeing programs.
Our Service and Team
Custodial Mental Health (CMH) is a specialist mental health service within the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network, providing a range of mental health services to adults in NSW correctional centres. CMH includes a team with mental health nurses, nurse practitioners, Aboriginal Mental Health Clinicians, psychiatrists, career medical officers, and psychiatry registrars, supported by administrative and managerial staff.
CMH clinicians work with Psychology, Offender Services and Programs, and Custodial Operations staff to deliver mental health services from reception through to release or transfer.
