My client is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Associate Director – Electrical to lead a high-performing building services engineering team in Perth. This is a pivotal leadership role for a senior professional who thrives on delivering technical excellence, building trusted client relationships, and driving business growth.
Role Overview
As Associate Director, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the electrical engineering discipline. You'll lead a team of engineers and designers, drive project delivery excellence, and actively contribute to the growth of the business through client engagement and winning new work. This role offers the opportunity to shape the direction of key projects while mentoring the next generation of engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
* Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of electrical engineers and drafters to deliver high-quality outcomes across a broad range of building projects.
* Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
* Manage team resourcing, performance, and professional development.
Project Delivery
* Provide technical leadership and design oversight on complex and multidisciplinary building services projects.
* Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
* Oversee documentation, quality assurance, and client deliverables.
Business Development & Client Engagement
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities across sectors such as commercial, health, defence, education, and infrastructure.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, contractors, and key stakeholders.
* Contribute to proposals, fee submissions, and commercial negotiations.
* Support the strategic planning and direction of the building services division.
* Contribute to operational and financial targets, including revenue and margin growth.
* Represent the business at industry events and play a key role in market positioning and brand development.
Key Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
* 15+ years' experience in electrical building services design, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
* Proven experience managing teams and delivering large, complex building projects in Australia.
* Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC, and local authority requirements.
* Track record of winning work, developing client relationships, and contributing to business growth.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* CPEng and/or NER registration highly regarded.
