About the role
The Head of Retail Expansion owns the physical operation from the ground up: finding and securing sites, managing kiosk fit‐outs, hiring and training staff, and ensuring every new location opens on time and runs smoothly from day one. After the pilot, the individual builds a playbook and scales operations nationally.
Key responsibilities
* Lead the pilot kiosk project from site confirmation to opening day.
* Own all retail operations: council compliance, supplier setup, daily operations manual, staff induction, uniforms, equipment, and opening stock.
* Work closely with internal teams on fit‐out and staffing to ensure the first Abby Clinic location is operationally ready for launch.
Playbook development
* Document everything during the pilot—what works, what doesn't, and the specific needs of each location—to create a repeatable opening model for national rollout.
National rollout
* Lead site selection, lease negotiation, fit‐out project management, local staff hiring, and operational setup for additional Abby Clinic locations across Australia.
* Manage multiple sites opening simultaneously or in rapid succession.
* Build a small operations team—including local ops managers and clinic coordinators—as the network grows.
Ongoing operations
* Own Abby Clinic P&L reporting and daily performance metrics.
* Maintain relationships with shopping centre operators.
* Ensure compliance with retail, insurance, and health and safety requirements at each location.
* Identify underperforming sites and escalated to leadership.
What we're looking for
* Proven experience in retail operations or multi‐site expansion with multiple openings in a high‐growth, fast‐rollout environment.
* Background in quick‐service restaurants, specialty retail, wellness or beauty brands, telco or banking kiosks, pharmacy expansion, or franchise development.
* Experience working with shopping centre operators and knowledge of Westfield and Vicinity.
* Experience managing shopfitters and kiosk fit‐outs.
* Strong understanding of retail compliance and operations, or the ability to learn new requirements quickly.
* Organised, direct, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
* Ability to move fast without cutting corners on critical details.
* Enthusiastic about building something from scratch.
