We're a Melbourne based, Australian owned-and-operated Internet Service Provider that provides residential internet and phone connections Australia-wide, with a focus on regional and remote Australian connections.
We offer the full range of nbn products including Fibre, Fixed Wireless and Satellite services. This hybrid role will involve a mix of working from home as well as from our office.
We have an opening for multiple openings for a Site Surveyor. In this role you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our telecommunications projects by conducting on-site surveys, defining technical solutions, and creating high-level solution designs.
This role will be part of our Field Services Team reporting to the field services manager.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive site surveys and desktop survey/mapping: Utilize advanced surveying techniques to assess project sites thoroughly, identifying geographical features, existing infrastructure, and potential obstacles. Integrate findings into high-level design considerations through meticulous desktop mapping, ensuring a holistic understanding of project parameters.
- Define technical solutions and collaborate: Work with stakeholders to design high-quality solutions that are validated against high-level designs.
- Create network configuration: (IP address, VLANs, switches) to enable communication and data transfer.
- Design solution frequencies: (Backhaul, WiFi) considering spectrum usage and interference mitigation.
- Design hardware components: (central communication hub, Wi‐Fi, tower) to meet project specifications and performance requirements.
- Provide advice on hardware purchasing requirements: Guide decisions based on technical considerations.
- Provide solution maps and detailed design documents: Including project scope, property records and pre-commissioning documentation to demonstrate project scope and objectives.
- Formalize project approvals and obtain solution design signatures: To authorize implementation activities.
- Create hardware configuration templates: Especially for non-standard products, to simplify the installation process and ensure accuracy.
- Update asset directory after installation: So it accurately reflects the newly installed hardware and configuration.
- Plan and conduct operational readiness meetings and training programs: Adequately prepare related parties for system construction, operation, and maintenance.
- Use monitoring systems to track solution performance: Including network connectivity, hardware performance, and overall system reliability.
- Conduct basic performance reviews: Assess standard performance against predefined metrics to determine continuous improvement efforts.
Preferred qualifications
- Site survey experience: Demonstrates experience conducting site surveys for telecommunications projects, including site survey techniques and documentation skills.
- Experience with WiFi infrastructure: (highly desirable) Designing and configuring WiFi networks, understanding WiFi standards, and troubleshooting common connectivity issues.
- Satellite technical experience: (highly desirable) Familiarity with satellite communications systems, including satellite dish installation, configuration and troubleshooting.
- Technical experience: Strong technical skills with the ability to understand and interpret technical specifications, drawings and instructions for telecommunications systems.
- Excel proficiency: Ability to use Excel for data analysis, reporting, and documentation related to site analysis and project management tasks.
- Telecommunications experience: Any other experience in the telecommunications industry, such as network installation, maintenance, or support, would be beneficial.
- Ability to travel internationally: Willingness and ability to travel to a variety of locations, including international travel, to conduct site surveys and support project implementation as needed.
- 4WD experience: Experience driving and operating a 4WD vehicle is preferred, especially in remote or difficult terrain conditions.
- Rural experience: (desirable) Understanding and knowledge of rural & remote environments and challenges associated with telecommunications network design in such areas.
