Locum Chaplain – Residential Care – Southern Region Casual role Based at Nowra Provide spiritual leadership and emotional support to residents, families, and staff About Anglicare As a Christian organisation, with a heritage of service spanning 160 years, we serve older people and those who are vulnerable or marginalised by providing a range of accommodation, care and community services. About the role Chaplaincy is a vital and expanding part of Anglicare, which demands intentionally evangelistic and pastorally orientated ministry. The purpose of the Chaplain is to provide spiritual leadership in the home through formal spiritual activities such as church services and Bible studies, to provide emotional support to the home's community, firstly to residents of the Home, as well as their families and the staff, and then also to offer facilitation or conduct of funeral services and grief support. In the role of?Chaplain, you will be based on site at the home alongside the Pastoral Carers to form the Pastoral Care Team of the home. A healthy and thriving Chaplaincy ministry in the home is achieved through developing individual relationships with each resident and providing support according to their needs and preferences, while building trust and rapport with Home Management and staff.? Key responsibilities (not limited to): ? ? Provide a Christ Centred pastoral approach through visitation, teaching, preaching, and conducting Church services in the home. Support residents with their spiritual needs, facilitate their ongoing spiritual growth, enable non-Christian residents to explore the Christian faith and encourage Christian residents in their faith Provide spiritual hope and support to residents living with dementia and needing end-of-life care, and their families ? Requirements for Success: ? Strong personal and active Christian faith is essential A warm, empathic demeanour & an active listener who builds trust and rapport Excellent communication and relationship building skills Exhibit moderate competency in computer skills Demonstrate effectiveness in pastoral ministry with older persons Collaborate with Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide person centred care Provide pastoral care to staff and family members affected by grief and loss. Able to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality and reliability Relevant Theological training essential; Ordained by, or Recognised Minister of, the Archbishop of - the Sydney Diocese of the Anglican Church Previous experience in ministry/pastoral care/aged care preferred Ongoing membership and participation in a local Evangelical Church. Current valid driver's licence and access to your own vehicle Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake or provide clearances for the following Checks: a Police Check, NDIS Check, Working With Children Check, qualifications and referee checks, along with a record of Covid vaccination boosters.
