Director Culture, Risk and Compliance







* Based in Parramatta
* Ongoing position available
* Total Remuneration Package Range starting from $239,251 – $264,197



Your role



As the Director, Culture, Risk & Compliance, you will set the strategic direction for workplace culture, staff wellbeing and organisational risk across Corrective Services NSW. You will provide decisive advice to the Executive, lead targeted culture and wellbeing initiatives, and ensure proactive management of emerging workforce risks. Your leadership will strengthen organisational resilience, elevate performance, and support safe, effective service delivery across a complex operational environment.



What you’ll do



As the Director, Culture, Risk and Compliance, you will:

* Lead organisation‑wide strategies and programs that strengthen staff wellbeing, workplace culture and psychological safety.
* Drive proactive identification, management and reduction of workforce‑related risks to ensure a safe, healthy and productive environment.
* Oversee staff support services, including wellbeing initiatives, critical‑incident support and workplace behaviour frameworks.
* Provide strategic guidance on workers compensation, employee wellbeing and workforce‑related legal matters.
* Lead the directorate and key stakeholder partnerships while ensuring robust audit, risk and compliance practices that drive integrity and continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for

* Proven leadership in driving organisational culture, staff wellbeing and workforce risk strategies in large, complex environments.
* Highly skilled in navigating sensitive workforce matters with senior executives, HR and legal specialists.
* Demonstrated success supporting dispersed, high‑risk operational workforces and understanding their unique challenges.
* Strong strategic, analytical and decision‑making capability, with a track record of building high‑performing teams and driving cultural uplift.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, supported by relevant expertise in culture, wellbeing, WHS or organisational risk, and a commitment to ethical, inclusive, high‑performance leadership.
* A commitment to ethical leadership, cultural safety, inclusion and high‑performance environments.

Corrective Services NSW delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce reoffending and create safer communities. We manage inmates in custody and supervise offenders in the community, working closely with courts, releasing authorities and partner agencies to support rehabilitation, reintegration and community safety.
