Central Highlands Regional Council is seeking a motivated, reliable, and eager-to-learn trainee to join our Resource Recovery team. This is an exciting prospect to gain full-time, paid work while working towards a Certificate III in Waste Management.
As a trainee, you’ll support the day-to-day operations of Council’s waste facilities, including landfill services and customer support. You'll assist with machine operation, site maintenance, and general landfill tasks, all while delivering high-quality service to the community. This hands-on experience, combined with formal training, will help launch a meaningful career in environmental and community-focused work. Apply now!
To Be Considered For This Opportunity
- A willingness to learn and a positive, can-do attitude
- Sound written and verbal communication skills
- Teamwork skills and the capacity to work in a hands-on, outdoor environment
- Basic computer literacy to support training and on-the-job tasks
- The ability to complete a Nationally Recognised Qualification (Certificate III in Waste Management) within 24 months
- Commitment to undertaking the requirements of the associated qualification
- A minimum Queensland C Class provisional driver’s licence (or eligibility and willingness to obtain one within 6 months of commencement)
- A General Construction Induction Card (White Card), or willingness to obtain prior to commencement

To Be Eligible For This Traineeship
- Be at least 17 years of age
- Meet citizen, residency, and visa requirements to undertake a traineeship
- Not hold a qualification equal to or higher than the traineeship qualification in the same field
