Our State Government client is seeking a Principal Financial Accountant (AO7)to provide high-level technical accounting expertise and leadership within their Financial Accounting and Asset Accounting functions.

How You'll Contribute:
Supporting to the Manager of Financial Accounting, your role will include:
* Leading and supporting a multi-disciplinary team of four to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant financial outcomes.
* Driving improvements in asset accounting processes, including revaluations and reconciliations.
* Managing reconciliations, corrective journals, and working papers to ensure the integrity of the department's general ledger and budget systems.
* Leading the preparation of general and specific purpose financial statements in line with Australian Accounting Standards, Queensland Treasury and departmental guidelines.
* Providing high-level financial analysis and authoritative advice to senior management, clients, and stakeholders.
* Contributing to policy, system and process improvements to strengthen financial management across the department.
What You'll Bring
* Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a small team within a fast-paced finance environment (required)
* Proficiency in SAP (required) and advanced Excel skills.
* Strong technical and financial accounting background.
* Experience with Asset revaluation (desirable).
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce and CA/CPA membership (desirable).
