Established in 1958 the Library service encompasses the Local Government areas of Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Forbes, Weddin and Orange. The support and administrative units are located in the Orange. The Library service covers an area of 18,772 square km and serves a population of 91,857. About Forbes Library Forbes Library holds 18,000 items and has over 5,000 members. It is open five and a half days a week and offers library programs to engage with children and adults. About the role Reporting to the Manager Central West Libraries, this position is responsible for the development and delivery of library services at the Forbes library. This includes: Providing high quality, customer focussed readers’ services including circulation duties, reference enquiries and participation in the delivery of programs and events Participating in collection management processes Managing and developing staff through implementation of recruitment, performance management, conducting performance reviews and promoting learning and development Interacting with the wider community including member councils to maximise the potential reach of library services A full list of job responsibilities can be found in the position description. Qualifications as a Librarian recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) or equivalent Experience in a similar role Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering programs, services and events Demonstrated awareness of current library trends and an ongoing commitment to professional development Satisfactory Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain before starting) Satisfactory Criminal Record Check What can we offer?
