We are seeking an experienced Automotive Painter to join a busy manufacturing workshop specialising in truck bodies and heavy vehicle components .
This role is critical to the final presentation, durability, and corrosion protection of our products, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and teamwork.
About the Role You will be responsible for the preparation, painting, and finishing of steel, aluminium, and composite components, ensuring all work meets internal quality standards, customer specifications, and WHS requirements.
Key Responsibilities Surface Preparation Sanding, grinding, cleaning, filling, and smoothing surfaces Masking and protecting non-painted areas Conducting pre-paint inspections to ensure substrates meet quality standards Painting Finishing Applying primers, undercoats, topcoats, and protective coatings using spray equipment Mixing paints accurately to manufacturer and job specifications Achieving consistent colour, thickness, and texture Painting truck bodies, trays, tippers, service bodies, and components Touch-ups and rectification work as required Quality Assurance Inspecting finished paintwork for defects Rectifying defects efficiently and to standard Ensuring all work meets QA and customer expectations before release Workshop Equipment Care Maintaining spray booths, spray guns, and paint equipment Following correct cleaning and shutdown procedures Keeping the paint area clean, safe, and organised Safety Teamwork Adhering to WHS procedures and correct PPE use Safe handling of paints, solvents, and hazardous materials Working closely with fabrication and assembly teams to meet production schedules Skills Experience Essential Proven experience as an Automotive or Industrial Painter Experience painting steel and aluminium components Ability to deliver consistent, high-quality finishes Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship Understanding of WHS and safe work practices Desirable Experience in truck body, heavy vehicle, or manufacturing environments Trade qualification in Automotive Refinishing (or similar) Experience with 2-pack paints and industrial coatings Forklift licence or willingness to obtain Personal Attributes Reliable, punctual, and professional Takes ownership of work and quality outcomes Able to work independently and as part of a team Safety-focused with a positive attitude toward continuous improvement What's on Offer Stable, full-time employment Modern workshop and equipment Structured production systems and job planning Supportive team environment with opportunities to upskill Competitive pay based on experience and skill level If you're a skilled painter who takes pride in producing high-quality finishes and wants long-term stability in a manufacturing environment, we'd love to hear from you.
