As Senior Manager, Line 1 Risk – People & Culture and Group Risk, you'll play a pivotal role in strengthening how risk is understood, managed and embedded across our Group Functions. Working closely with the Head of Line 1 Risk, you'll help shape a proactive risk culture that supports smart growth, sound decision‐making and strong outcomes for our people and our customers.
This role sits firmly in the first line of defence and is all about partnership. You'll work alongside senior leaders across People & Culture and Group Risk, providing pragmatic, commercially minded risk advice that cuts through complexity and enables the business to move forward with confidence. From identifying emerging risks and control gaps through to supporting remedial action plans and control uplift, your focus will be on practical solutions that genuinely improve our risk position.
You'll also be instrumental in bringing our risk frameworks and governance to life. That includes delivering meaningful risk insights, shaping key risk indicators, supporting divisional reporting and contributing to risk committees. Just as importantly, you'll help uplift risk capability across the business through coaching, training and collaboration, while leading and developing a small, high‐performing team.
About You
You're an experienced risk leader who knows how to balance rigour with pragmatism. You bring a strong background in risk management, ideally within financial services, and you're confident operating in complex environments where judgement, influence and clarity really matter. You enjoy working closely with stakeholders, translating risk concepts into clear, actionable advice that supports better decisions.
You're curious by nature and comfortable digging into processes to understand root causes, identify control weaknesses and spot opportunities to simplify and improve. You have a sharp analytical mindset, strong attention to detail and the ability to see both the big picture and the finer points. Communication is one of your strengths, whether you're preparing thoughtful written insights, facilitating discussions or coaching others to lift their capability.

You enjoy guiding and developing others, encouraging learning and fostering high standards without losing sight of what matters most.
