We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our port-based client on a 3‐month contract. Reporting to the Senior Manager Commercial, this role is critical in managing existing commercial arrangements while driving new opportunities that enhance value across the customer and supply chain network.
About the Role
As Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in delivering strong commercial outcomes through effective contract management, high‐level negotiations, and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with customers and partners across the maritime logistics ecosystem to ensure commercial arrangements are robust, compliant, and aligned with strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Establish, manage and optimise commercial contracts, ensuring appropriate documentation and governance frameworks are in place
* Lead complex contract negotiations with external stakeholders, including:
o Stevedores
o Towage service providers
o Container park operators
o Shipping lines
o Freight forwarders and other customers
* Drive the development, analysis and continuous improvement of commercial agreements and performance metrics
* Oversee contract performance, compliance and lifecycle management
* Build and execute strategies to strengthen customer relationships and enhance service delivery
* Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure consistency, efficiency and value across the commercial portfolio
About You
You are a commercially astute professional with strong negotiation expertise and a track record of managing complex stakeholder environments.
Key Requirements
* Relevant tertiary qualification or 6–8 years' experience in a similar commercial role
* Extensive experience negotiating complex contracts in a commercial environment
* Demonstrated ability to manage senior‐level stakeholder relationships
* Strong understanding of contract management and commercial principles
Technical & Professional Skills
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
* Strong commercial acumen, with a proven ability to optimise value and drive improvements
* Advanced contract management capability with attention to detail and governance
