Role Overview
Laboratory Technician in the Environmental Division, based in Brisbane (Stafford). The role involves preparing and analysing soil, water, and sediment samples in a high‐throughput commercial laboratory.
Day‐to‐Day Responsibilities
* Preparation and analysis of soil, water, and sediment samples – weighing, digesting, titrating, or solvent extraction.
* Follow ALS quality work instructions for all preparation and analytical procedures.
* Organise designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies.
* Complete all tasks within the timeframe set by the Supervisor and relevant analysis standard.
* Highlight anomalies in results and sample type/behaviour.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Genuine interest in the science industry.
* University or TAFE qualifications in a science‐related field.
* Experience in a commercial laboratory or high‐throughput environment.
* Excellent attention to detail, organisational and time‐management skills.
* Dedication to good laboratory practices with regard to quality of results and health and safety.
* Flexibility to work public holidays and weekend shifts if required.
* Willingness to be cross‐trained in other laboratory sections.
* Dedication to providing high quality work and solutions‐driven mindset.
Additional Desirable Skills
* Interest or hobby in computer building, circuitry, automation, Excel macros, scripting or 3D printing.
* Coding or programming capability (e.g. VBA, Python, R, SQL).
* Exposure to robotics, AI, process automation or digital optimisation.
