You’ll identify and develop original story ideas with a high degree of visual creativity that resonate with local and national audiences for broadcast and iView. The role will also involve working very closely with our team of experienced writer/producers as they prepare for shoots and working with our specialist social and digital teams. The role will include fact-checking programmes to meet tight post-production deadlines so you will need to be able to work with speed and accuracy. You may occasionally be required to travel to locations for short periods. However, this is a researcher role, not an opportunity for people wanting to produce on the road. You’ll have the ability to contribute original ideas and complex material to engage and inform audiences, as well as considerable writing and editorial skills and ability to support the planning of episodes and look for a balance of Australia-wide regional locations and content across the year. You’re a great communicator, with a brilliant phone manner and a strong record of finding the fascinating and diverse outback characters our audience love. Your previous experience will include a proven ability to have a great attention to detail and ability to foster an open and collaborative approach to work, while balancing multiple priorities to meet tight deadlines. You will be a self-starter who is highly motivated and able to work unsupervised while writing high quality research briefs. A passion for regional and remote Australia is essential as is having extensive contacts outside the cities. Previous experience working for high end long-form factual programmes is highly advisable.
