· Process clients' waste materials into usable pellets for fuel or fertilizer, ensuring optimal efficiency and quality, and meeting customer specifications.
· Oversee production runs, ensuring consistent throughput and maintaining process integrity.
· Operate laboratory equipment to assess waste material content and quality of waste streams at various processing stages.
· Conduct comprehensive laboratory testing on diverse biowaste streams to determine suitability and performance in large scale production.
· Execute proof-of-concept (POC) experiments of feedstock samples
Plant Process Engineering & Quality Control
· Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams on the design, commissioning, and improvement of process equipment
· Propose machinery modifications to address unique process challenges and meet specific customer requirements.
· Continuously evaluate design and manufacturing solutions to align with niche market needs in drying technologies and material science.
· Oversee maintenance and troubleshooting of company machinery to ensure smooth operations.
· KPI Management: Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track productivity and ensure continuous improvement.
· Quality Control: Establish and maintain quality control procedures, addressing any deviations promptly to maintain high standards.
Support Deployment of Plants
· Support the installation of demonstration plants, ensuring successful integration and operation.
· Employee Training: Develop and deliver training programs for customer employees to ensure they understand processes and equipment operations.
Who We're Looking For
· Minimum 2-5 years in process or plant engineering within waste-processing, bioenergy, or similar heavy-industry settings in Australia.
· Qualified Mechanical fitter with minimum 5 years industry experience
· Proven ability to mechanical diagnoses problems and repair skill set.
· Willing to work hands on as required, to have flexible mindset suited to a fast-moving start-up.
· Demonstrated success scaling lab trials to pilot or commercial plants, including commissioning and troubleshooting, an advantage but not essential.
· Communicate and work in a small global team environment.
· Clear communicator who can lead small teams and translate complex data for customers and regulators. Able to work unsupervised and demonstrate independent thinking.
· Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical, chemical or environmental Engineering, an advantage but not essential.
· Willing to be based in Yatala (Brisbane/Gold Coast) hub.
· Working knowledge of the Work Health & Safety Act 2011, state WHS regulation.
· Familiarity with EPA licensing for resource-recovery facilities and ISO 9001/14001/45001 systems. An advantage but not essential.
· Operation of lab equipment (moisture analysers etc) pellet extruder, dryers, data-logging, and KPI dashboards (Excel / Power BI).
· Able to read and create P&IDs; basic CAD (AutoCAD or SolidWorks) is a plus.
· Current Australian driver licence; forklift licence (LF)
· Passion for Australia's net-zero journey and a willingness to share in the upside through the Employee Participation Plan. (EPP)
